DataVita is part of the HFD Group of companies and backed by an organisation that develops, constructs, and manages commercial and industrial real estate properties. The investments we have made in our datacentre facility have made it the most secure and resilient in the north of the UK and our customers can leverage this investment as they can secure datacentre and cloud services from us on an OpEx model, for both small and largescale projects. DataVita can provide consultancy and assistance at any point in the cloud journey and provide industry-leading services and solutions for; Secure Colocation, Cloud & Hosting Services (private, public / shared, hybrid), Migration Services, Asset Management as a service, Backup and Disaster Recovery, Backup as a Service, Object Storage, Connectivity, Workplace Recovery (WPR), London Internet Exchange & CloudIX.

About the DataVita Glasgow Datacentre

The DataVita Datacentre Complex is in the heart of central Scotland, just off the M8 Motorway between Glasgow and Edinburgh. It is one of the most advanced datacentre facilities in the UK and is certified for Design and Construction to the Uptime Institute (UI) Tier III standard.

Sustainability

DataVita strives to set an example of sustainability and environmental responsibility and is dedicated to long-term practices, reducing our environmental impact and operating efficiently. Our colocation and multi-tenant facilities have some of the lowest PUE figures in our industry (1.18).

Space

The DataVita datacentre currently has 4,000 m2 of colocation space within two physically separate buildings, operated as one. Each building has 2 x 1,000 m2 Data Halls which are physically separate fire compartments.

Power

The site is supplied by fully redundant 11kV High Voltage power connections which are supplied by a local 33kV grid station. The grid station is connected to the Scottish Power network on a ring connection and has fully redundant 33kV to 11kV transformers separated by a full height blast wall to ensure the resilience of the serviced supplies. Site capacity is currently 16MVA with scope to increase to 24MVA. The site provides fully redundant A & B power to each data rack with its N+N electrical network topology with fully rated UPS and stand-by generators on both A & B feeds. The standby generators are rated for continuous operation of the entire site and are supported by bulk and dedicated fuel tanks to ensure there is a minimum of 72 hours fuel available on site always. The supply chain SLA for fuel delivery to the site is 4 hours.

Connectivity

Connectivity to the site is provided by multiple suppliers including BT Openreach, SSE, Virgin, Level3, Commsworld and Zayo - with dedicated fibre via diverse routes and multiple entry points within the building.  DataVita is also home to IX Scotland peering which is the first LINX regional exchange to be established outside of England.

Cooling

Data Hall cooling is provided by highly efficient indirect adiabatic cooling technology installed in an N+1 topology, this enables the halls to be cooled 100% of the year without the need for mechanical refrigerant cooling.

Fire Protection

The Data Halls are protected from fire by an inert Gas Suppression system which if discharged, has no detrimental effect on IT equipment. There are two layers of fire detection; an early warning aspirating system which detecting fires at their incipient stage and a conventional fire detection system with smoke and heat detectors.
